The 10th International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Auditory Technologies was held April 10 – 12, 2008, in San Diego, California, and was hosted by House Ear Institute of Los Angeles, known for their clinical expertise, groundbreaking research and pioneering innovations in the field of auditory implants in both adults and children.
In the two decades since the first meeting in 1987, in Duren, Germany, directed by Paul Banfai, a variety of professionals have made many advances in the treatment of hearing loss. These advances have helped not only those patients with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss using cochlear implants, but also patients with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss and patients with conductive hearing losses to obtain a level of function better than they did using conventional hearing aids. The title of this conference reflects the inclusion of the technologies that have benefited patients with hearing loss.
